Collection: Dyed Locks

One of my favorite things about working with locks is that no two are exactly alike. Some are almost perfectly clean. Others still carry bits of the pasture with them. I don't see that as a problem. I see possibilities.

That's why I sort my dyed locks into three VM levels instead of trying to make every bag the same. Whether you love spinning smooth yarn, creating textured art yarns, or processing fleece yourself, there's a place for every fleece.

Light VM — $12

2 oz of dyed locks with minimal vegetable matter. A great choice for handspinning, blending, or projects where you want very little prep before you begin.

Medium VM — $10

2 oz of dyed locks with a noticeable but manageable amount of vegetable matter. Perfect if you don't mind a little picking in exchange for beautiful locks at a lower price.

Heavy VM — $8

2 oz of dyed locks with more vegetable matter still present. A great choice if you plan to comb or further process the fiber, since much of the remaining VM will release during preparation. They're also wonderful for textured spinning, weaving, felting, and other creative projects where a little extra prep is well worth the savings.

I don't believe every fleece needs to be perfect to be beautiful. Every sheep grew these locks out in the real world, and every one of them has something to offer.

However you choose to use them, I hope they inspire your next project.
