Celebrating 50 Years of the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival

The Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year! From sheep shows and shearing demonstrations to yarn and fiber vendors, sheep and wool is in the spotlight.  Come to the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, Maryland May 6-7 and see everything fiber has to offer.

Six years ago I came to the festival as a patron and it quickly became my favorite of all the fiber festivals. The fleece sale is a must see, even if you’re not buying raw fiber. All the tables piled high with freshly shorn wool of every type is a sight to be seen.

This year I’m honored to be returning as a vendor for my fourth season. You can find me and all my fluffy spinning fibers under the Big Tent in the Lower Corral. I’ll have roving and batts in many fun themes, dyed locks for spinners and felters, and washed wool representing different breeds. It’s a spinner’s oasis.

Overall, the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival is a wonderful event for anyone interested in sheep, wool, or fiber arts. It's a great way to learn more about the wool industry, see some beautiful sheep, and pick up some amazing yarn and fiber. Whether you're a seasoned fiber artist or just a curious visitor, this festival is definitely worth a visit.
